I would go back to that shirt if I had the choice (maybe change colours / sponsors each year). Eliminate the lottery...have a reserve list...first come first in...you are ticking a lot of average people off and those who are keen to promote your event. You could open it up to more international runners this way! It is a great trail event stuck in the old way of being.Have a better sound system at the banquet...good concept but we could not hear you in the facility. Volunteers need to have some training (how to fill a water bottle and how long to the next aid station.</td></tr><tr><td>21</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 12, 2010 6:09 AM</td><td>i thought it was ran perfectly on my end. being form out of town the shuttles were a great idea. the trail was well marked, overkill on marking in that hard of a race really helps out when your not always looking up, and the direction arrows on the ground were also a good idea. the biggest improvement would be picking my name again next year!! HA!</td></tr><tr><td>22</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 12, 2010 6:10 AM</td><td>This was my 1st time, and when I was doing my training runs I found that there could have been a lot more &quot;BP&quot; triangular markers to help out. Some were very faded, and there were areas where it was a while before you found one, and it made you question if you were on the right trail or not. All in all it was an incredible experience, I'm very proud to say that I have done it, and thanks to you organizers for a fantastic job.</td></tr><tr><td>23</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 12, 2010 6:14 AM</td><td>If my training partner could have been entered, it would have really helped. Perhaps some type of group draw could be done so that people from one area who train together can travel to/from the race and train together. For myself, and I am sure for many others, the social aspects of trail running are important, and a lottery system completely ignores that aspect of things. If those who I run with, especially my partner, don't get entered, it makes training and traveling just that much more difficult.</td></tr><tr><td>24</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 12, 2010 6:16 AM</td><td>Route via the Bridal trail to get through the Seymour area instead of the Seymour Grind :). Manned by a banquet volunteer, crossing off the number as they get turned in and handing out the selection. This is predicated on the advance knowledge of the approximate number of guests attending the dinner based off of the Catering numbers. There by alleviating the need to announce and keeping the poor acoustics of the room to a minimum. If need be a mini draw could be done at the close of dinner based on the actual number of tickets handed out in a quick cross reference to the drawn tickets to ensure all the prizes are taken or for the guests that didn't show. Thank you all for giving us the opportunity to respond and for doing what you do.</td></tr><tr><td>26</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 12, 2010 6:29 AM</td><td>I think the whole experience was excellent. I think the organizers and Volunteers have done an excellent job and should be proud of this &quot;incredible event&quot;. I say event, instead of race, because the buildup and help goes on for 6 months, the race is 10hrs. Everyone should be congratulated for doing an excellent job. Thankyou!! (the flag/markers were not as good on the last 3/4)</td></tr><tr><td>27</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 12, 2010 7:00 AM</td><td>The shirts could use a little more attention to design. There are some great contemporary artists that you can access at 99designs.com who can design a logo for a very low price. I'm also a not a very big fan of excessive advertising on race shirts. From a design standpoint, it looks bad. From a social standpoint, you feel less inclined to wear the shirt because you don't want to be a walking billboard. I'm very appreciative and supportive of the sponsors, but would much rather prefer to see it done in a more tactful way. For example, you can strategically take photos of the runners with an advertisement integrated. You can take photos of runners as they drink from &quot;eload&quot; cups at the aid stations. Have photos of a volunteer with a &quot;Hammer&quot; shirt hold out &quot;Hammer&quot; gel packs for a runners as they approach an aid station. I'd much rather have a clean and beautifully designed Knee Knacker shirt that sends one simple message: &quot;I did the Knee Knacker, and it's a tough race&quot;. Advertisements dilute the message.</td></tr><tr><td>28</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 12, 2010 7:11 AM</td><td>It is great. Everyone tends to spread out and go at their own pace. For runners who do not know the course well, this can be a problem. It might be useful to place greater emphasis on pacing groups for the training runs and the importance of staying with your pacing group. I got lost on Hollyburn, while it was snowing during an early training run, and this could have turned into a very bad situation. If training groups stayed together, these risks would be minimized.</td></tr><tr><td>47</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 12, 2010 5:43 PM</td><td>I like to keep moving through an aid station and eat/drink - as such some garbage bins 100-200m past an aid station would be good. Just little tweaks. The problems I have had with the course on previous years have all been ironed out. There are some important marshalling points, like the demo forest for that hard right turn - very important. I could have used one more where I mentioned, when climbing and tired in the last half, it is easy to look at the shoes, and seeing a red flag below and red squares on the trees, it looked like the course. WIth the sun it was hard to see there was no black strip on the tape. Marshalling near the grind is very important and there were ample, especially where it turns east of the grind.</td></tr><tr><td>50</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 12, 2010 5:50 PM</td><td>A couple more marshals guiding runners at key junctions.</td></tr><tr><td>51</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 12, 2010 6:03 PM</td><td>Mainly, just keep doing all the great things you're already doing today. You're running a great event, have excellent people steering it, and volunteering to assist it on race day. 2 small things to improve: ensuring more toilets at the start line (I understood the problem was out of your control), and smaller safety pins for the race bibs. Thank you!</td></tr><tr><td>52</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 12, 2010 6:24 PM</td><td>I wouldn't change a thing. Training Runs were awesome. I must, however, add that Kelsy is a phenomenal speaker and I really enjoyed the pre-race briefing on Friday night. It was informative, interesting and kept short and to the point! Well done! THANK-YOU!</td></tr><tr><td>88</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 14, 2010 12:55 AM</td><td>Don't allow Adam Campbell, Aaron Heidt, Jacec Doniec, or Ellie Greenwood back into the race, lol!</td></tr><tr><td>89</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 14, 2010 1:16 AM</td><td>If possible let the runners know what basic items will be at the aid stations ( water carbo drinks gels ) THANKS FOR A GREAT EVENT</td></tr><tr><td>90</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 14, 2010 4:55 AM</td><td>I think its the best so no room for improvement (although the shirt was a bit dowdy; I miss not having the old logo on the back). There are a lot of talented photographers you recruit and a lot of shots get taken. It would be great if we could access ALL of the shots on the web not just to bask in our own glory but to have shots of old and new friends. I have also wondered if that could raise extra funds for NSR - have a flat fee for a high quality jpeg or 5 of them, say. Many thanks to you all!</td></tr><tr><td>91</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 14, 2010 8:03 PM</td><td>It was all good ... perhaps the timing of the briefing was a bit odd (as you mentioned at the meeting, we need to eat/sleep), yet that's probably the best time to do it because of the out of town participants.</td></tr><tr><td>92</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 14, 2010 9:20 PM</td><td>It would have been great to have jugs of water on the tables at the banquet - water was defnitely a necessity and the glasses weren't quite big enough. Only minor suggestions: ice at the finish and more port-a- potties at the start (mentioned above); perhaps lengthening it a bit to make it a 50K (if added at the start somehow, this could alleviate the bottle neck when you enter the trail early on)</td></tr><tr><td>97</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 15, 2010 10:42 PM</td><td>Please put the course profile back on the shirt!!!</td></tr><tr><td>98</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 15, 2010 11:32 PM</td><td>This was by far the best organized and friendliest trail run I have experienced.. and it was by far the most challenging</td></tr><tr><td>99</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 16, 2010 12:01 AM</td><td>Open up the field to 300 to allow more to enjoy the beauty of our North Shore Trails</td></tr><tr><td>100</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 16, 2010 3:21 AM</td><td>- Create a facebook page. That way it is easy to connect with the people you trained with. - more portapotties at the start - more volunteers at the final stairs of the race at deep cove. Alternatively, find a separate second entry/exit to the trail as that portion was the only one where there was a problem with us runners and &quot;normal people&quot;. Either runners or the &quot;normal people&quot; could use the alternative entry which everyone would benefit from. Finally I saw it, IT WAS THERE, but 20 meters down the trail. The flagging needed to be closer, right there, two, three pieces indicating the &quot;turn&quot;. When one DOESN'T KNOW THE COURSE, coming to an &quot;intersection&quot; with many other trails, ANY ONE could be the RIGHT ONE. OVER FLAG at all intersections and turns! The WHITE LIME markings were really good, they &quot;saved&quot; the day many times, at some sections of the trail, there were just SO MANY TRAILS crossing. It's upsetting to go the wrong way in a race, especially when you want to run competitive, beat &quot;a time goal&quot;. If I had to run the route TODAY, by myself, I still wouldn't be able to find the right way. It would take many times of running the route to actually KNOW IT. OUT-OF-TOWNERS have to rely on a great marked route. I think the course was marked great, just a few times I had to stop and really look for that tape. - MAKE SURE competitive out-of-towners are in the 2011 race, especially the ones from KELOWNA ! :-)</td></tr><tr><td>105</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 17, 2010 3:07 PM</td><td>Couple more marshalls one at the turn down onto MT Seymour road near the top of old buck.</td></tr><tr><td>106</td><td style="white-space:nowrap;">Jul 17, 2010 11:46 PM</td><td>Being that this was my first race and event I can't think of anything.
