Twas the night before Knee Knacker…
With all of 15 hours to go before KKNSTR 2011 start, I wanted to take a minute to share my sincere thanks to all of the volunteers who work to make this run possible, to our great community sponsors, and to all of our runners who take on this adventure. It is pretty spectacular to be involved in a run where not only are there more volunteers than runners, not only do people come back to volunteer year after year, but we actually have to turn volunteers away! Thank you for this. Continue reading

Cleaning up muddy runners
For your post-race clean up, you can use the outdoor showers located at Panorama Park. There are also shower facilities at Parkgate Community Centre (there’s a small fee, payable at the front desk). If you opt to clean up at Parkgate, please clean off mud before you use their showers as any mud will clog their drain systems.

July 3 Training Run Photos — He saw, She saw
July 3, 2011 Training run photos by Ken Blowey are here and Karen Chow’s are here.
Thank you for running across the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge. (The suspension bridge is not part of the race course.) And since the runners arrived at Deep Cove before the photographers, it’s Runners 1, Photographers 0.
Shovelling snow in July!
The snow in higher sections of the course has lingered longer than usual. Several creek crossings along the Hollyburn section of the course has had many of us concerned.
On Saturday morning, a Glenn, Michel, & Andrew headed out to tackle the trail with shovels & ice axes. They managed to tackle the 8′ walls of snow, uncover many of the post-hole traps, & made the creek crossing far more manageable. (Photos posted here.)
In the last week, much of the snow has receded & we expect that much more will disappear before race day.
