Hello!  Well, the countdown is on and we’re now 1 month, 14 days & a handful of hours away from the 18th annual Knee Knacker start!

Volunteers

Thank you to those who have been in touch to volunteer & help out in many ways.  We still have some key positions available, so if you are running, please encourage a friend or family member to volunteer http://www.kneeknacker.com/feedback.htmIf you are a volunteer, thank you.

Trail Work Party – Saturday, May 27th, 2006 - 8:45am – Please RSVP by noon, Thursday, May 25th

The Trail Work Party is now 4 days away & we are looking for a dedicated crew.  Following is a message from Andrew Wong and Craig Moore, Trail Work Party Co-ordinators:

This year's Knee Knacker Trail Work Party will take place once again on the Baden Powell Trail in the area just below the Seymour Grind.  This is a long stretch of trail near Hyannis Drive that rises 300m over 1km.  A major trail rehabilitation project will take place on this section involving several running groups over a period of about 4 weeks.  We'll be working under the guidance of North Vancouver District Trail and Habitat Coordinator Graham Knell.

Trail Day is Saturday, May 27.  We'll be ready to go about 9:00am, but please come early.  Many volunteers make for light work so we hope you--and friends and family--can come out to help for a few hours.  There will be coffee and treats from Delany's Coffee.  No special skills required, although if you have a chainsaw we'd really love to have you.

To volunteer, please e-mail Bonnie.  Although you can come and help at the last minute, an early reply will help us plan for the goodies and organize the amount of work we can do on the trail.

Meeting Place:

  1. Take Mt. Seymour Parkway to Berkley Drive, turn left on Berkley Drive.
  2. Turn right on Hyannis.
  3. Turn left on Hill Drive.
  4. Go up Hill Drive and turn left on Blairview Avenue.
  5. Park any where around there.
  6. Walk up the gravel road to the water tanks. Graham will meet every one there with the materials and tools.
  7. If you arrive late, just follow the pink flagging tape.

Bring:

bullet lunch, water
bullet garden gloves
bullet hammers
bullet shovels
bullet buckets
bullet picks
bullet If you don't have any tools or gloves, Graham Knell will have some extras for us to use
bullet Most importantly bring your muscles and smiles!

Hope to see you there!

Craig Moore & Andrew Wong,

Knee Knacker 2006 Trail Work Party Co-ordinators.
