New 2006 Knee Knacker Start

It was great to have 23 people & one ultra-puppy out for our ‘Start Orientation Run’ on Saturday. After meeting at the new start, we set off in a pack along the Trans Canada Trail & Rod, Curb & several others set a good clip up the first hill. As the trail starts out fairly wide, it’ll give everyone a chance to spread out & find ‘their spot’ on race day before entering the single track. We passed the water tower on the right, kept straight along the Trans Canada Trail & followed this for about 10 minutes to the turn towards Nelson Creek. The group waited here to make sure everyone was accounted for & then carried on along the Nelson Creek trail to the log bridge (see the pics from a couple of weeks ago of Rod & Loger adding lath to the log – thanks guys!). From here, the trail continues along Whyte Creek & over the ‘rolling log bridge’. We reconvened again at the fork in the trail before continuing left towards the Baden-Powell. At this point, a couple of folks needed to turn back & the rest of us continued to the BP junction. With everyone oriented to the trail, Curb, Rod, Jeff, Loger & several others continued up to Eagle Bluffs, Pam & Mark headed down the BP to the Eagle Ridge trailhead & the rest of us headed back towards the start with Kath & Lara keeping me company & a group of 3 deciding to continue on the Trans Canada Trail. Thank you to everyone for who came out – it was great to hear the rave reviews about the trail from experienced Knee Knackerers & newbies alike.

See you on the trails,
Kelsy Trigg.
